DAY 01 - Airport - Negombo
Upon arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by our Akorn Airport Representative and will be introduced to your Chauffeur Guide. Transfer from Airport to Negombo. (Approximate Duration-30 Mins -Distance 35 Km)
Day 02 - Negombo – Pinnawala – Dambulla - Sigiriya
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer from Negombo to Pinnawala. (Approximate Duration-2 Hrs & 30 Mins -Distance 75 Km)
Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage is located approximately 1 hour’s drive from the Kandy City, Pinnawela is both an orphanage and breeding ground for wild elephants which has one of the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Established in 1975, originally founded in order to afford care and provide protection to the many orphaned elephants stranded in the jungles. Each grown animal is given around 76 Kgs (170 Lb) of green manure a day and around 2 Kg from a food bag containing rice bran and maize. Baby Elephants feeding times are 09:15 am, 13:15 pm and 17:15 pm. Duration of the visit at the site approximately 2 Hrs and 30 Mints
Transfer to Dambulla. (Approximate Duration- 2 Hrs & 30Mins:-Distance 115 Km)
Dambulla is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagam Bahu took refuge from invasions in the 1st century B.C., later turning the caves into a rock temple. Some of its frescoes are over 2000 years old. Another highlight is a colossal figure of the recumbent Buddha carved out of the living rock, some 15 meters long. The caves have a mixture of religious and secular paintings and sculptures with ceiling frescoes depicting scenes from the Buddha’s life and Sinhalese history.
Visit the World Heritage giant Rock Fortress of Sigiriya, built in the 5th century as a bastion and palace of King Kasyapa.
The most impressive facets of the unique complex are the geometrically laid Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, and the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti. The Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, was surrounded by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory.
DAY 03 - Sigiriya –Polonnaruwa –Anuradhapura
After breakfast hotel Proceed to Polonnaruwa (Approximate Duration-1 Hrs & 30 Mints -Distance 67 Km) to visit the 5th century Ancient city of Polonnaruwa and the Archaeological musem. The second most ancient of Sri Lanka’s kingdoms, today the city of Polonnaruwa remains one of the best planned archeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the kingdoms first rulers. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, its beauty was used as a backdrop to filmed scenes for the Duran Duran music video ‘Save a Prayer’! Its green environment, amazing ancient constructions (including a huge lake built in 1200A.D.), good
hotels and its warm, friendly people make it an attractive city to visit.The Polonnaruwa Visitor Information Centre and Museum, brings this ancient city to life. A visit to the Centre and Museum first, will prove useful before setting out to explore its fascinating sites.
DAY 04 - Anuradhapura – Matale – Kandy
This morning, after breakfast proceed on sightseeing tour in Anuradhapura. The sprawling ancient city of Anuradhapura is full of dreamy stepped pools and bell-shaped stupas, or dagobas (some as large as 60 metres high & 340 metres in circumference), many of them gleaming white, while others have faded to overgrown, sun-baked brick. Located in the north central part of the Island, Anuradhapura was the first capital (5th century BC - 9th century AD), and undoubtedly the grandest city of ancient Sri Lanka.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Buddhism's holiest places - partly because of the 2200-year-old Sri Maha Bodhi tree, grown from a cutting of the Indian tree beneath which Buddha found Enlightenment - it also features in the Hindu Ramayana. The Archaeological Museum is excellent and worth a visit.
Transfer to Kandy via Matale. (Approximate Duration 4 Hr –Distance - 138 Km)
DAY 05 - Kandy – Bentota or Beruwala
After breakfast visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic - Tradition relates that a sacred tooth relic of the Lord Buddha was brought to Sri Lanka in 4th Century A.D. and was enshrined within the Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Tooth. This sacred relic has ever since been the symbol of sovereignty for the Sinhalese kings and always enshrined in great splendor. Prayer services are held daily at dawn, midday, and in the evening and can be viewed by visitors
Thereafter, drive to Peradeniya and explore the Royal Botanical Gardens, founded in 1824 and containing some of the most valuable collections of plants and trees in the world. The Royal Botanical Gardens in Kandy, which is renowned for its collection of orchids.
Proceed to Bentota or Beruwala and spend the rest of the day at leisure. (Approximate Duration 4 Hr –Distance - 184 Km)
DAY 06 - Bentota or Beruwala - Colombo
Morning after breakfast at your hotel proceed to Colombo. (Approximate Duration- 3 Hrs-Distance 126 Km)
This evening, enjoy a panoramic city tour of Colombo. Bursting with life and colours, the islands largest city that was once the capital of Sri Lanka, is now its commercial hub. This modern city with an ancient heart is a monument to its colonial history. Its architecture is influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. Today, it is a mix of modern architecture among colonial buildings. The remnants of Dutch and Portuguese domination, is seen primarily in the Fort, located north of the city. One may be surprised to notice the predominant English street names such as York Street, Duke Street & Bristol Street that was a direct result of the British presence in the Island in the 18th century AD. In stark contrast, are modern buildings such as the World Trade Center. Since the end of its civil war, the skyline is constantly changing with investment into the city’s infrastructure.
DAY 07 - Colombo – Airport
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer from your Hotel in time to connect with the international flight for departure. (Approximate Duration-45 Mins-Distance 38 Km)

16.1 Cancellations received between the date of booking and 61 days prior to departure will result in the loss of the deposit.
16.1.1 Cancellations received 60 - 46 days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 25% of the tour price.
16.1.2 Cancellations received 45 - 29 days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 50%of the tour price.
16.1.3 Cancellations received 28 - 15 days prior to departure will be subject to a cancellation charge of 75% of the tour price.
16.1.4 Cancellations received 14 days or less prior to departure will be subject to a forfeiture of the entire tour price.
16.2 Cancellation of airline tickets will be subject to the refund policy of each individual
airline and may be greater than the percentages above particularly when low cost/net based fares are used.
16.3 The purchase of special event tickets is subject to the refund policy of each individual event. Please refer to the specific event policy for details.
16.5 AKORN reserve the right to charge for financial penalties, fees and losses incurred as a result of cancellation.

For verifiable claims to be considered, they must be received in writing within 30 days of the termination of the program. Any adjustment considered will be based on the actual price of the services involved and not on a per diem basis. Adjustments will not be made for unused sightseeing trips or meals. We will not accept any liability for any claims that are not received within 30 days of the termination of your program. All claims for days missed while travelling should be made in writing within 30 days of the program
